At United Hmong with Disabilities (UHD), our programs and events are grounded in disability justice, cultural understanding, and community care. We create spaces where Disabled Hmong individuals, families, and allies can learn, connect, lead, and access support—without having to navigate systems alone.
Our work centers lived experience, accessibility, and respect for the diverse needs within our community.
Program
Home & Community-Based Services (HCBS) Support: Access and Equity Program
Helping our community navigate services with clarity and dignity
UHD provides education, navigation support, and community-based guidance around Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) for Disabled individuals and older adults.
We support community members by:
- Explaining HCBS in plain, easy-to-understand language
- Helping individuals and families understand eligibility, options, and rights
- Sharing community-created tools, guides, and resource lists
- Supporting informed decision-making within complex systems
- Connecting people to culturally responsive and disability-affirming resources
Our HCBS work is not about rushing people through systems—it’s about helping folks understand their choices and feel supported every step of the way.
👉 Services may include workshops, 1:1 navigation support, peer support groups, resource sharing, and community education.
Program
Leadership & Advocacy Programs
Building leadership rooted in lived experience, culture, and justice
UHD’s Leadership & Advocacy programs support Disabled Hmong individuals (18+) to grow confidence, leadership skills, and policy advocacy tools—while honoring culture, identity, and intersectionality.
Through cohort-based learning, participants:
- Learn how systems and policies impact Disabled Hmong communities
- Build advocacy, storytelling, and leadership skills
- Strengthen confidence rooted in lived experience
- Connect with peers, mentors, and movement leaders
- Develop action plans to influence change locally and statewide
These programs center the belief that Disabled Hmong voices belong in leadership and decision-making spaces.
👉 Programs may include multi-session cohorts, workshops, and guest-led trainings.
